AMY STERLY

Amy Sterly is a printmaker living in Wales, whose work subverts traditional imagery of rural scenes with comic asides and exclamations. She explores the idea of the ‘rural idyll’ and what lies beneath its surface, combining opposing forms and creating a tension between the industrial and the organic, the playful and the menacing, the object and the non-object. Amy has created "Facades". Aspects of Wrexham’s architecture are printed onto small cotton circles of fabric and folded into flowers, which contrast Wrexham's architectural facades with hidden narratives and the organic forms of the fabric.
